About our Department


The department was developed in 1964 with the following philosophy “If the Town of Kennebunk wants to meet the needs of the community in order to attract young people and industry to this area, and hold on to those already living here, it needs to spend more of the tax dollar to give our young people some place to meet and something to do. We believe money spent in this way will come back to the town in improved relations with young people and a better all around place to live”. This basic philosophy established many years ago, continues on today with the exception that the department is not only committed to its’ community children, but families, adults, 50+ and the many facilities it manages as well.
