Description: The magical ukulele is capturing hearts and minds in Maine and around the world! Why not yours? Come join our adult beginners’ class and share in the fun of learning to play. The ukulele is versatile. On it you can play folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, country, tunes grandma knows -- even classical music. It’s affordable and compact and you can take it most anywhere. And when folks hear you play this happy instrument, well, they just have to smile!
And here’s a bonus! You do not need to know how to read music or know music theory. Using familiar songs, Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 400 students of all ages, Using familiar songs, he will introduce you to chords, strumming, and finger picking -- truly a fun way to learn ukulele. Oh, and there are lots of laughs along the way. You must have a soprano, concert, or tenor size ukulele and an electronic tuner. No baritone ukuleles please, unless they are strung for, and can be tuned to, the standard ukulele tuning of GCEA. Bring along a music stand if you have one (if not, we’ll improvise!).
